The Group started in October 2017 and we have much the same members now as when we started.  The number, 10, is dictated by the space in our house and most importantly by the number of samples obtainable from a single bottle! Now that wine is produced by so many Countries, there is plenty of scope for variety and we have been pleasantly surprised by the quality coming from relatively 'unknown' areas. The Greeks for example have raised their game far above the level of their Retsina! I get much of the wine from Majestic because of their range ,but we are really spoilt for choice ,as the supermarkets from Lidl to Waitrose all set a high standard. I doubt if there is any Country in the world with such an abundance of good wine on offer. This has really happened since the 1960's when the British were introduced to wine by the supermarkets getting licences to sell wine. I am helped greatly by Joy Boot who administers with quiet efficiency and by the members who take it in turns to supply the nibbles. We have a lot of fun!
